Recently we found our Chrome web browser looks like slower than usual when we tried to open a web page, it was stuck in the first 20 or 30 seconds, or even few minutes when visiting websites but after that the speed could be back to normal. We see there is a message “Downloading proxy script…” (sometimes the message is “Resolving proxy…”) in the bottom left corner of the web browser.
Microsoft provides the SkyDrive for your store something online. you can upload a PDF file on your SkyDrive. SkyDrive allows you view the pdf file in web browser. Here we use IE browser.
However, some reasons caused our pdf could not view in IE browser
An empty content displayed when we viewed the pdf file:
We confirmed we have already installed Adobe reader software. because we could open pdf file in local Windows. So if you found you have not installed Adobe reader, or another pdf file reading tool, please just install them.
In our case we have already installed Adobe Reader 10X, The reason should be something wrong in our installed Adobe Reader software, so we tried to do the following steps:
1: Close IE browser, Open local installed Adobe Reader software, select Menu Edit, and then Preference sub menu:
2: Select the “Internet” category on the left panel, and check off “Display PDF in browser” if it checked on, then click OK to save the new setting:
3: Close your Adobe Reader. Now go to Control Panel of Windows system, list the installed program, and choose Adobe Reader X, and then click “Change” menu:
4: Now you can see system asks you choose Repair installed Adobe Reader, so we choose it and click Next button:
After you click Next button, Adobe Reader will be in repair processing:
After you see Finish window, just click Finish button to close the Repair window.
5: Now open your Adobe Reader again, and check on the “Display PDF in browser” option which we turned off in Step 2, after you checked on , please do not forget to click OK to save.
6: Now open IE again, try to view pdf file in web browser, you will see the pdf file can be viewed in browser now:
One day our Google Chrome Browser got a problem, we could not access internet. but on the same computer, we also have IE browser, IE browser could access internet.
The following is the error page which Chrome browser displayed:
Unable to access the network
Google Chrome is having trouble accessing the network.
This may be because your firewall or antivirus software wrongly thinks Google Chrome is an intruder on your computer and is blocking it from connecting to the Internet.
Here are some suggestions:
Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall’s or antivirus software’s settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
Error 138 (net::ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED): Unable to access the network.
We searched lots of help information using our IE browser through internet, most of cases are about virus changed internet connection option such as Proxy configuration. We can check Google’s forum here if your case is really caused by Proxy.
However, we double checked our Chrome’s settings, our internet settings such as LAN, Proxy all looked OK:
Then we went back to check the Chrome error message, it indicated that might some firewall program in our computer blocked Chrome browser. then we checked our Windows 7 firewall settings first, we did not find Windows 7 firewall blocked Chrome settings:
So what the reason is exactly ?
Finally, we recognized we installed another virus program: McAfee Security program.
So we opened McAfee Security Center, and access to its firewall settings, finally we found the real reason: It was because McAfee blocked our Chrome Browser:
We edit Chorme’s permission and then Chrome browser could access internet.
Time turned to 2011. I remember I could not use Google Chrome to pay my bill in my bank account before, I had to use IE or Firefox at that time. You might say it might not Chrome’s problem, it might be bank website’s problem. But anyway, even bank website did not support Chrome, it was still an issue: Because people did not know Chrome, so most of business did not change their related production applications to support Chrome web browser very well, they only supported IE and Firefox.
But, things are changing. From this year, I have tried to use Chrome to pay my bill through my online bank account, and I never gotten issues.
So seems I can use Chrome in more cases. Chrome is more and more reliable.
