More difficult Immigrate to Canada

According to Citizen and Immigration Department figures, the government is planning to reduce immigration by five per cent next year. An application for a visa today could take a whopping 13 years to approve.

On Sunday, Immigration Minister Jason Kenney announced that 2010 had been a banner year for immigration: Canada, he said, had welcomed more new immigrants than it had in more than 50 years. 280,636, to be exact.

What he didn't mention - until he was asked about it - was that the government has plans to slash new immigrant visas by five per cent next year, according to information obtained by an access-to-information request filed by Vancouver immigration lawyer Richard Kurland.
