There are different cases we get the Error code 0xc0000001, which normally are related hard disk errors. But, this kinds of disk error could be fixed using some solutions unless you get very critical error.

We got a failure which was from our laptop booting once time with the error code 0xc0000001, after multiple tries which the Windows system prompted. We finally resolved the issue WITHOUT format our computer or re-install Windows system. The following is our handling process. It could be one of your information if you get the same issue with same error code.

One day we found our laptop could not boot up but just gave us a waiting icon with black background screen. We waited several hours but still did not work, so we had to force restarting the computer by holding the power button. The laptop was forced to turn off and turn on again, but later we only saw a blue screen with error code 0xc0000001.

image ## What does the error code 0xc000001 mean ? We searched long time but there was no Microsoft official document to explain exactly the error code 01c0000001, but we just got different solutions which were from multiple internet websites or forum threads. Here is one answer which mentions troubleshoots with multiple error code listed, but it still only provide solution without explanation of 0xc0000001 code;
**0xc0000001:** Repeat the same steps used for error 0xc000021a **0xc000021a **You need to convert the drive or partition from NTFS to GPT To manually wipe a drive and convert it to GPT: Turn off the PC, and put in the Windows installation DVD or USB key. Boot the PC to the DVD or USB key in UEFI mode. For more info, see Boot to UEFI Mode or Legacy BIOS mode. From inside Windows Setup, press Shift+F10 to open a command prompt window. Open the diskpart tool: Type: diskpart 5. Identify the drive to reformat: Type: list disk 6. Select the drive, and reformat it: Type: select disk <disk number> Type: clean Type: convert gpt Type: exit 7. Close the command prompt window. 8.Continue the Windows Setup installation. When choosing an installation type, select Custom. The drive will appear as a single area of unallocated space. Select the unallocated space and click Next. Windows begins the installation.
So the above solution told us to "reformat" the computer, which was not we wanted. Also we tried all options which were from the list on the blue screen but did not work. ## How we did fix the issue of 0xc0000001 finally ? The solution seems some silly, really simple but worked in our case. image **We took out the laptop hard drive and connected it to another computer using an external hard drive USB cable and did the common Windows hard drive Error checking (see below, right click the SSD driver letter, selected properties and selected Tools tab to see the Check button), We really found the hard disk error, and we just allow Windows fixed the error, then everything worked**. Our laptop could boot after the disk error fixing by Windows system. image So this was our case, actually the fixing way was simple. We hope it could help you.
