2010-08-28

You might have found a new icon on the left side in you Gmail , please see below, yes, it is "Call phone".

When you click the "Call phone", you will see a phone dial interface.

"What if you don’t have your phone with you? Or what if you’re in a place with poor cell phone reception, or you’re travelling internationally and don’t want to incur expensive roaming charges? Wouldn’t it be great if you could use your computer to make or receive calls? Starting today you can use Gmail to receive or place Google Voice calls." - Google Voice on Aug 25, 2010.

Actually, looks like the Gmail voice is just a similar service with Skype. Skype was free but now it is no more free, Google voice is not free either, but currently Google voice is free for US and Canada area. for other countries, I think they can provide lower rate. The one of all differences between Skype and Google Voice is that Google Voice is in an email account , but SkePE is a standalone client software. Google Voice Rates is here. You will need to install some plug-ins when you click the google voice icon and follow the steps.
