We realize when we want to check some web services which are from some popular businesses such as hosting services, we can use Twitter with the real time status. In this case, seems Twitter is the best choice.
For example, we found our blog website could not be visited suddenly at around EST time 5:00pm today, we did not have a good chance to call our hosting support but we tried to search by Google to find the reason. we found there was a DreamHost status thread and user account on Twitter:
